What is montage?

Technical modern montage is primarily characterized by being non-linear, digital and high resolution (HD). Non-linear montage is characterized by the ease with which one can watch each frame and with the ease for modification of already set scenes. The length of the material is unlimited because everything is stored in the computer, which makes it digital. But why HD? This is simple. Thanks to HD, one can see more details, colors are more vivid, and modern work stations make work easier in HD compared to the same level with regular resolution 5-6 years ago.

In practice, thanks to technology, the montage of film/video footage is about choosing from a filmed material or from a created material those parts that lead the viewer in a created or a narrowed world. The purpose of that is so that the viewer sees what the director wants to show him. Therefore the viewer looks exactly where we want him to look.
