Gecko Media - intro
As with every wild creature, our gecko was irritated by being filmed and as a result of the irritation, the gecko devoured the camera (in order to calm you down, I must add that there were no casualties in the team)
GECKO Media is a company that produces movies. Being such a company obliges it to have its own intro. It’s a short form that precedes the released film material. It’s a kind of company’s signature to ones production.
Gecko media focuses on special effects. What follows is a modification of the world in a way that seems primordial or exotic. The process of creation of every intro is challenging. One needs to take under consideration the fact that an intro needs to be extremely short because of the limited show time. Another consideration includes the complex technical processing. Finally, one needs to effectively carry this “something” to the viewers.
The logo of the company was helpful. It depicts a gecko that barely fits in the frame of the screen. This provided us with huge room for manoeuvre. There were two concepts that arose. The first one was more realistic. The second one was more novel and that is the one that we chose.
We depicted our gecko as a wild creature on a foreign planet. There was a camera, however, which wanted to immortalize the gecko on tape. As with every wild creature, our gecko was irritated by being filmed and as a result of the irritation, the gecko devoured the camera (in order to calm you down, I must add that there were no casualties in the team).
The animation of the Gecko
The next step featured the process of the design of the secret planet, the arrangement of the stars, the atmosphere and the modeling of the gecko itself. At the same time the animation script of the animation was being made.
fter having designed the environment, we started the process of the animation of the gecko and the animation of the camera that followed the gecko. The project included a separate construction of the background (the sky), the second set (the planet where the spectators are invited), the first set (the gecko) and a fossilized tree that the gecko walks on. The first as well as the second set were divided into several layers so that the postproduction stage could allow further post production operations.
The whole animation was made in the highest cinema format, QuadHD. This format allows for the possibility of conversion of a chosen frame to HD 1080p without any loss of quality. The whole production required the involvement of the entire team for almost two weeks. We used various software, such as 3dstudioMax, AfterEffects, CuBase and AvidMedia Composer.
